 In celebration of Dr. King’s birthday, the Brookings Human Rights Committee sponsored a poster contest for elementary students and an essay contest for middle school and high school grades to help students reflect on Dr. King’s ideas and their impact on the community.  This year’s theme for the poster contest was “I Have a Dream” and the theme for the essay contest was “The Time is Always Right to do the Right Thing.”

Mayor Tim Reed will present the winners with cash awards at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at 6:00 p.m.  All poster entries and the winning essays are on display at the Brookings Public Library through January 31st.
