Responsibilities The function of the Board of Appeals is to hear and decide on appeals, orders, decisions or determinations made by the city building officials relative to the application and interpretation of the Building Code. The board also determines the suitability of alternate materials and methods of construction. All members of the board must be qualified by training and experience to pass judgment upon the matters pertaining to building construction.
The board consists of five members who each serve five years. Residency is not required and appointment to the board is in January. For more information on requirements and responsibilities, view the City Code.
