The City of Brookings will Celebrate Brookings Day of Kindness in conjunction with World Kindness Day this Friday, November 13th.

On Tuesday, November 10th, Brookings Mayor Keith Corbett declared Friday, November 13th, 2020 as Brookings Day of Kindness. Brookings residents and organizations are encouraged to celebrate by doing nice things for others and by participating in random acts of kindness.

“Acts of kindness and the art of being neighborly are part of what makes Brookings such a great place to live and work. Brookings Day of Kindness celebrates the Brookings community and the way residents work together, help each other, and give of themselves each and every day. Amazing things can be accomplished through a kind gesture or word. It’s a beautiful thing,” says Chelsie Bakken, Brookings public information officer.

In a year that has been riddled with stressful moments, a day to celebrate kindness reminds us that what we do for others and how we treat each other can create a positive ripple effect throughout the community. The City of Brookings asks that you please share the love by encouraging others to be kind, and by sharing acts of kindness on social media using the hashtag #BeKindBrookings.
